Google Registry has launches the .new domain extension which is available for businesses to create custom shortcuts.

Google originally has made the .new extension to be used as shortcut for its own services. Like, to create a new spreadsheet, you can simply go to .sheet.

Now, it is available for any agency to register a .new domain to create similar shortcuts for their own offerings, some companies are already started working on it.

Here are some of the examples

  • New: Create a New Document in Microsoft Word
  • New: Create a new spotify playlist
  • new: Create a new product listing on eBay
  • new: Create a new product listing with Bitly
  • new: Make a reservation with Open Table and others.

Google stated that, similar to its .app, .page, and .dev extensions, all new extensions will be set over HTTPS by default.

.new domains will first be available for registration to trademark owners for a limited time. From December 2, 2019 to January 14, 2020, trademark owners can apply for their .new domains.

I believe, all .new domains will be available for grabs after the limited registration period.
